The file has a drop down box that I want to use to active a macro once the
user has made a selection. Problem is that with Protection on no macros will
run. But I can't make the dropdown box function without protection on.

I think I'm missing something here. Can anyone help?

In the properties dialog for the formfield, set the macro to be run on exit
from the formfield.
