Hi Matthew,
You may need to set a hyperlink base in
File=>Properties for it to work, but the
relative references may still be to a 'drive'
which would be a variable in the use of CDs
when you're using the Wd97 authoring tools.

Be sure that you have the updated Word web tools
installed from the downloads area of

Hi,
I am running Windows 95 and Office 97 on a Novell
Network. What I am doing is quite simple as I have
created a manual with relative hyperlinks pointing to the
separate chapters on the network drive. When I have gone
back to write this to CD to distribute none of the
hyperlinks are working. What I have noticed is that if I
edit the hyperlink and look at the path it shows the full
unc path as opposed to the relative path plus the tick box
at the bottom (which selects relative path) has been
unchecked.
I have tried to create new documents and still get the
problem although if I create a document on the local drive
the problem goes away.
Has anyone seen this happen before and if so do they know
a solution.
Thanks in advance.
Matthew
The problem that I have got is that different people have
got they CD's as different drive letters. This means that
I would have to change the base path for a couple of
hundred docs every time I wanted to send out an update.
The strange thing is that is does not hold the relative
path when created on the network drive. Dont known which
element of the equation that is causing the problem.
