Short file names in save as web page

When trying to "save as web page" a file with a name
longer than 8 characters, I get a message saying the name
is not a valid short file name. Is there any way to turn
this check off?

Hi Dave,

What version of Word and Windows are you using?
Do you have multiple versions of Word installed?

Have you done a repair/reinstall of Office through
Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control panel?
