You didn't mention the version of Word you're using,
but this can happen for a number of reasons, including
the file contains a field that updates when you open
the file, or you have the SmartTag embedding enabled
for a couple of possibilities. The updating is seen
by Word as a change.

I have this link in the intranet using MSWord files and
everytime I close the file it ask me whether if I like to
save, discard or cancel the document I open without even
changing the file. I don't like to use pdf. What did I do
wrong. Anyone? >>

The version is MSWord2002. I've removed the Smart Tag but
still didn't work. What else can I do. Thanks a lot for
your help.
