I have the same problem as Tom. I have recently up
graded to Windows XP from Windows 98 and now when I
update my web page, which is constructed in Word, I do
not get my images come up on my website.
I note that HTML Script Editor changes the source file
name to 'documentname_files\image1.jpg' though it wont
allow me to change it back to the original file name.
Does anyone understand the windows XP word script editor
translations? I used to follow the old translator quite
easily but I haven't a clue what this new program does!!!!
Any suggestions out there.
Regards
Andre
Hi Andre,
The change in Windows version shouldn't matter. The behavior
is one of Word 2000 through Word 2003.
If you link to a picture that is already stored on your website
Word should retain the original names and locations. If you
use a locally stored graphic then yes, Word renames and numbers
them, expecting that you'll either (1) use File=>Save as Web Page
and save directly to your website or (2) if you are doing a separate
upload that you'll upload both the page and the accompanying folder
documentname_files so that the graphics will be found or (3) change
the setting in Tools=>Options=>General=>[Web Options] to not use
a 'supporting folder' and save the graphics and the webpage to a
single folder.
