Word hyperlink character limits

Hi

I understand that Word 2000 has a character limit of about
250 for hyperlink urls. So if I paste a weblink that has a
long url (for example a long querystring) from a web page
into Word 2000, it cuts it down to the character limit. I
think there is no way of increasing the limit - is this
right?

Does Word 2003 accept longer URLs in the Hyperlink field?
If so, what is the limit? Or is there no limit? If I
create a document with long urls in Word 2003 and then
open it in word 2000, will the links with long urls still
work??

Cheers

Dom

Previous response in microsoft.public.word.web.docmanagement regarding Word
97 compatability also applies to Word 2000.
