Hello,
I want to use word to create an html web page with
pictures/images in it. I know the abolute path to the jpf
files that I want to use. How do I reference these jpg
files in the Word document, so that when I save the final
document as a web page, the image is an embedded link
instead of an inserted picture? I hope my question makes
sense! I believe if I insert the picture, it acts more
like an attached file when someone opens up the web page.

Hello Simon,
To turn off the embedded images:
Tools / Options / General / Web Options/ Pictures / Untick both "Rely on
VML" and "Allow PNG."

Hi Simon,
HTML files don't have a capability to include graphics,
they're basically always linked.
If you're using Word 2000 thru 2003 then it's expectation
is that you'll use File=>Save as Web Page and save directly
to a web server (which will automatically upload the pictures
for you along with the webpage) or that you'll be using
Insert=>Picture and establish a link to a graphic already located
on your web server.
What version of Word are you using and how are you placing
your webpages on your web server?
If you have a URL for a webpage that may be helpful in diagnosing
some problems.

Hi,
Highlight the cell where the picture is. Click on Insert -
Hyperlink and give it the address where the web pic
should be. Save and that should do it!

Simon:
I think I understand your question.
If you have a picture inserted (say as a thumbnail) and
want to have it pop up bigger, you need to identify the
inserted picture as a hyperlink with the applicable
address to the picture. I hope this helps, Ed.
