Hello,
You have a couple of issues.
1) In your OLD example you file extension is a DOC in the newer the example
is DOT. Whether or not this makes a difference to Word is beyond my
imagination.
2) In the second (2003) example the file name is separated by a blank space
[nasty habit] and results in "%20" being inserted in the link address. To
avoid this rename the files eliminating blank spaces. [Many people use the
underscorse, while shorter file names are best.
3) all the extra garbage is a result of Vector Markup Language and embedded
images and/or documents.
To turn this option OFF?
Tool / Options / General / Web Options / Pictures / Un-tick (check); both
RELY on VML and ALLOW Png. / OK yourself out.
The result will be that you will need to upload the images into the SAME
folder as you web page and provide LINKS (relative are best) to the images
in your page. Having made SURE, PRIOR to starting that, the images are in
the same folder as the intended page to be created.
You might also consider using the HTML Cleaner when completed unless you
desire the option of maintaining the capability to return the HTML document
to a Word formated document.
The following from Bob Buckland:
