Good afternoon,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Word 2000 web
pages, to NOT create local copies of images used, and
instead just to point to where the author intends?

Thanks,

Dave

1) Don't use Word to create your web page ;-))

2) Create a folder/directory structure on your local drive that duplicates
your websites folder/directory structure.

3) one of the folder/directories of your website root, you may consider
holding images only. This has two purposes;
  a) organization and consistent links in your html web pages
  b) a separate folder offers you the option of excluding bots from
indexing your images by using robots.txt to define the exclusion

4) do NOT insert images or copy images into your Word Web Pages. Rather
provide either an absolute or relative link in your html. (relative links
will only be valid if you have duplicated the folder/directory structure as
mentioned above.

5) Turn OFF BOTH VML and PNG in:
    a) Tools / Options / General / Web Options / Pictures /

Should you provide a URL for your website page, than providing a solution is
much simpler than these hypothetical solutions, which if you understood,
you'd not being attempting to use Word in creation of web pages.

URL ??
In case your unaware of what a URL is?
