Hi Gimme,
Using Start->Search check for the file HTMLMARQ.OCX
It's the active X control that Word uses for the
scrolling text. You may need to review your settings
in Tools=>Macros=>Security and if you're using a 3rd
party security/antivirus product see if it allows
Active X controls to be loaded/used.

i am trying to get the scrolling text to work in word
2003. it gives me an error saying MARQUEE is missing
moved or changed. are there any patches or updates that
i can get and were are they? >>

What folder is the .OCX file in?
Did you check Antivirus/Security software protection
settings as well as Internet Explorer Security settngs?
Does this happen in a new blank web document or only in
certain ones?

it is in--C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\HTML
i tried just turning off the anti-virus and still no go.
this happens all of the time no matter if i am making a
new document or changing one. but the real kicker is
that my web browser has no problem displaying the
scrolling text if i make the page on another computer
with an older version.
