MS-Word 2003 XML export problem

Hi there,
I am working on a project where I am using an MS-Word 2003 template as
the authoring tool for XML based content as the organisation is
looking for a single source publishing solution.

I have developed a schema (well formed and valid) and attached this to
the document, and also have marked-up content correctly.

my XML tree is as follows

document
- metadata
-> node1
-> node2
-> etc
-content
-> content area 1
--> titles
--> headings
--> text (contains other tags like text_bold)
--> etc
-> content area 2
--> titles
--> headings
--> text (contains other tags like text_bold)
--> etc
-> content area 1
--> titles
--> headings
--> text (contains other tags like text_bold)
--> etc

The problem I have is that when I go to save as XML (data only as I'm
not using crappy WordML) that if i:

a) check the Ignore Mixed Content radio button - that some content in
my metadata node (see above) is not exported

b) uncheck the Ignore Mixed Content radio button - content is not
before or after tags like text_bold, text_italics

What I do not understand is that the document schema however should be
enforcing what content should be being exported as I have made it to
ignore mixed content in the metadata node (so that only content within
tags will be exported), and that all content within the conent node
should be exported as I have made it to include mixed content.

Any ideas? Or should I develop an XSLT that would be applied before
saving?

Cheers

Hi David,

You may want to also post this in the Office XML
newsgroup (link below).

Be sure to mention which Word 2003 you're working
with. The capabilities of  Word 2003 standalone or
Word 2003 from MS Office 2003 Professional
Edition are different than those in the Word 2003
copy in Standard, Student/Teachers, Basic and
Small Business editions of Office 2003.
