                Rather Word presents "too many issues" is entirely a matter
of opinion and also depends both on the default web settings of Word (which
need changing) and your understanding of some basic internet principles.

1) Create a directory structure on your local machine that parallels your
web sites directory structure (do NOT save everything in "My Documents" with
your images and links being to other directory paths on your local machine.

2) With Word open:
   a) TOOLS / Options / General / Web Options / Pictures / un-tick (check)
BOTH Rely on VML and Allow
       Png.
   b) TOOLS / Options / General / Web Options / un-tick (check) BOTH
           1) Organize supporting files in a folder
            2) Update links on save

3) Before inserting any images into your Word Doc (aka web page,) resize the
images to the pixel size that you desire to display with a graphics
software, OUTSIDE of Word. (Note: after resizing these images, they should
be placed in the image or other directory, which parallels your websites
directory structure.

4) after inserting images (or Hyperlinks to images) and adding the text you
desire?
    Save as Web page.

Additionally it's a good idea to utilize the HTML cleaner for Word 2000 to
removed much of the unnecessary bloat.
