Hi all.

I'm new to this site and would appreciate some formatting help.

I created a new Word doc and copied and pasted some graphics and some
simple text boxes in to it. The graphics and text boxes were created
in Powerpoint by someone else.  Looks fine on my screen.

Before sending it out via e-mail to an Outlook e-mail group I have, I
first sent myself a test message to see what it would look like on the
receiving end. It looks a mess!  The text boxes are all over the
place, as is the text that is not in a box.  Also, everything slide
over to the left hand margin a little bit, so the e-mail I received
chopped off part of the left side of the graphics/text.

I tried protecting as a read only file, and that helped a little bit,
but not enough.

Someone please tell me how I can change my document to ensure that all
recepients have a nicely formatted document.

Thanks in advance.

Save it and send it as an attachment.  That way the exact file
gets transmitted.

I was hoping to avoid that.

Hi Mike... What happens when you save it as an HTML file. Open up this
file in a browser, copy & paste into an email message?

That didn't work. I tried both a text as well as an html format on the
new e-mail.

I can't believe this can't be done!  I receive many e-mail newsletter
during the day with nice graphics and boxes. What are they doing that
I can't?

May I ask why?  NOt that I have a solution; just curious, mostly.
That's easily the best way to make sure a file isn't changed in
any way.

I'm trying to send out a nice looking e-mail to an Outlook group
complete with graphics and nice text. Some jpgs and some texst boxes.
Kind of like what I get daily from CNet, or PCWorld, and most other
online subcription services.  What do they use to send out nice
looking e-mails?  When I do it in Word, the e-mail comes in
discombulated. What am I doing wrong?

Hey Mike... after doing some more thinking about your problem, I have to
ask you a few things. As I don't know how you are sending this Word doc
to an email program for starters? You wouldn't happen to be using Word's
mode with Outlook that is called Wordmail, would you?

If not, what are you using for sending out email? As I'm not sure, but
Outlook Express and Outlook only composes in Rich Text format (RTF).
Well Outlook does have a HTML option too, I think.

yes, it was composed in PowerPoint by someone else. I then copied and
pasted into a Word document and sent it out via Word. When that didn't
work well, I copied and pasted into Outlook, both in text and html
versions. Still didn't work.

Hi Mike... Did you find a solution yet? I'm in the middle of moving, so
I won't be online too much. But Object Linking is supposed to make this
all work. Have you tried dropping the Word file into the Outlook message
yet? I don't know that much about it since I rarely use it.

No, I haven't found a solution, and I'm slightly disappointed no one
has come forward with one.

Yes, I have tried dropping the Word file into both an Outlook text
message, as well as an Outlook html message.

Thanks.

Hi Mike... I had taken one of those CNET Newsletters coming into Outlook
(my version is 2000). Saved as a HTML file. Opened up with a browser,
copy and pasted it into Outlook. Sent it to myself and it looks just
fine. Does this work for you?

Depending on the web page, I can also successfully do the same for some
webpages sending as email to myself. Same true for you? But webpages
with frames and who knows what else like http://news.yahoo.com/ displays
incorrectly. But it does so before I send it out as well.

You are using HTML format under Outlook right? Rich Text isn't good
enough for this task. It's under the menu bar under Format when you
compose a message. Also you may not have all of the options installed
under Office. You might need to run setup once again to see what is
installed and what isn't. Also remember that Outlook can't do that super
fancy HTML, just the standard stuff.

I am using HTML format, but I've actually created it in Word 2000, and
am sending it out from within Word (since as you say, Outlook doesn't
do fancy HTML stuff). It then goes to Outlook 2000, where I click send
and receive.

Yes, CNET Newsletters and such come in nicely, and those are the kind
of fancy HTML newsletters that I'd like to create.  I've been trying
to find out what they use, as I've almost given up on Word.
