Office 2000 HTML Filter can't be installed for Office 2003

I want to carry on using the Office 2000 HTML Filter on a new machine that
has Office 2003 installed. The reason I want to use the orginal filter (and
not the new functionality built into Word 2003) is because I can bulk process
rather than having to open each file and manually do this.

However, when I try and install I am told I cannot because I don't have any
Office 2000 products installed. Surely as an Office 2003 user it would be
reasonable to expect to still use the old filter tool?

Can anyone help with how I can do this except by installing Office 2000 first?

Thanks for any help.

Hi EndMark,

The standalone MSFilter.exe app from Office 2000 will still work outside of MS Word to do the batch processing, but there isn't any
advantage to installing the 'save as compact HTML' add-in from Word 2000 and the addin may cause problems when used inside of Word
2003 or Word 2002.

Hi Bob

I'm afraid I don't really understand what you are saying as it doesn't seem
to answer the query that the exe can't be installed if you don't have Office
2000 installed.

The reason I wanted it was I already used it (on another pc with Office 2000
upgraded to 2003 after install of exe) for a preprocessing cleanup on Word
html and my processing relies on the MsFilter cleanup.

It allows batch processing that Word 2003 functionality doesn't cover.

However, on having another look an earlier post pointed me to:

http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-1035_11-5197013.html

which showed me how to install MsFilter on an non-Office 2000 pc.

Thanks anyway.
