I wrote some instructions for software in word. Currently in the
directory, I have about 20 html pages and another 500 graphic images.
the folder looks very clutered. I would like to open the word html
file, and have it locate all the images that are on that page and
move/copy them to a subdirectory under that current directory. Is this
possible? how do I do it?

As an example

"c:\instructions" has 20 HTML files and 600 graphics. I want 20
Subdirectories under "C:\Instructions" for each webpage. I want all the
graphics in each subdirectory. I dont really care about space. Is it
possible to do this with a few keystrokes? I would hate to reinsert
every graphic all over again.

Thanks
Pat

Although this is likely quite possible with a Word Macro, there are much
better and easier tools.

HTML pages are straight-up text in the background and may be viewed or
edited with any text editor (NotePad included.)
There are amy freeware tools (text editors) that were designed
specifically with html pages in mind.

One such thatI use is named:
Search and Replace 98
http://www.htmlworkshop.com/
With the free version the replace functions are limited to a single edit
of multiple files and across multiple sub-folders each time the software is
opened.

With the above tool you would key on:

1) Find text
   a) Find a single line
2) Replace text
   a) Replace a single line

EX:
Find a single line

img src="the roots file that your html pages are stored in/root file
subfolder/    (NOTE; your images would be contained here)

Replace a single line
img src="the roots file that your html pages are stored in/root file
subfolder/new sub folder

And in a few seconds the location of images in your 20 pages of html are
changed.

Upload the edited pages.
Create the new sub folder on your website and move the 600 images there.

WORD will do that for you:  Go to the Web Options and set it to
create subdirectories for pages.  Each page.html will get a
page_files under it with the related grahics in it.

If you can't find it, come on back and I'll give you the exact
location.  No time right ntis sec.
