I follow these steps for adding alternate text to images -
1. Select graphic.
2. Format picture.
3. Select Web tab.
4. Add Alternative text.
When I save the doc as a web page, the alt text does not
appear in Internet Explorer. The alt text DOES APPEAR in
Netscape Navigator.
Please HELP!!!

You didn't mention the version of Word you're using,
but this feature works if you save the web page as
Filterd HTML the tips will work in Internet Explorer,
but not if you use the 'normal' HTML file format from
Word 2000 or 2002 where the coding that Word creates
with VML coding blinds the MS browser from seeing
the Alt text for the graphic, although it does show
with regular webpage save if the graphic is
also a hyperlink.
