Hey guys,
I'm using word 97 and have a very annoying problem.
My word document has a header and footer for the first page, and a
different header and footer for all other pages.
The problem is the footer on all the other pages has gone strange (its
not what I originally set it to) and it just has the auto page number
in it. It wont let me remove the auto-page number, and I cannot add
text after it, or use the footer as you normally do (ie put stuff left,
middle and right aligned on the same line).
I've tried deleting it, cutting it, modifying it but it always reverts
back to being the page number.
Any idea how to remove the footer so I can add a new one?

I'm assuming tht you're using Section breaks in this document. Have you
tried viewing the Header and Footer and navigating to that particular
footer and deleting it? Is it possible for me to see the document?

when you make changes in a field, after printing or opening a document
the field get its real value again.
You better select the complete field and delete it.
To get a better view of which text in your document is a field, you can
switch on the fields shown gray via Tools | Options, view options.
