i have a price series chart and i'm trying to dislay letters in it. eg: i
have a column with a formula that returns either B for buy or S for short.

On a number of occasions I have selected XY chart type with points only.  
When the chart is drawn the type is XY chart with points and lines.  Has
anyone else had this problem?  Why would the chart type change?

I'm trying to create a simple column chart. I'm selecting the range E8:E11
