Any clue of what software the people at The Economist uses to create
charts? I’m wondering whether there is some software out there better
than MS Excel that would give better control without the onerous
workarounds.

I have data from 1/1/08 thru 8/10/08 - how do i set a trending line for each
month of data to be shown only for the monthly period

I am trying to create a combination stacked bar and line graph whereby the
data for the stacked bar relates to one axis and the line to a second axis.  
Is this possible in excel?

Does anyone know if there is a option in Excel 2007 similar to the
option "chart sizes with window frame" in Excel XP?

Can someone explain how to do a graph? Specifically for a finance class. I
need to do a breakeven graph and a EBIT-EPS indifference graph.

I have a line chart with more 120 categories.
Even though I set the "Interval between Labels" under "Format Axis" to "1",
the chart shows every other labels instead of every label.
Then I reduced the number of categories to exactly 100, and the chart then

I know this must be easy but I am having a brain freeze and just can't seem
to think of how to do this.
I have a piviot chart and the x-axis has dates.  It is currently displayed
as "7/31/08" and I want it to be "Jul-08".  I've gone into the format area

In Excel2007, I have a pivot bar chart with over 20 stacked series. I order
to change the look of the bars, I have to select them all first. I have not
found a way to select more than one series at a time and it makes changing
the shape style very cumbersome.

I'm really very sad to see pattern is not available.
Anyone who says it is out of date just try creating a black-and-white
document with charts of Excel-2007 style, you'll see the pictures are really
not as impressive as the traditional patterns.

I have a chart for pivot table and would like to so totals for the data. The
data table on the chart displays the pivot table data but not the totals for
each column. How can the totals be displayed on the chart?

I am trying to create a chart with the following data:
Series 1-8 with bars
Series 9-10 with stacked bars (two different data)
Series 1-10 with a line across all

I need to show numeric data on the y-axis versus categories, not numbers, on
the x-axis in a scatterdiagram (in other words there will be several
different y-axis data poits for each x-axis category) . How do I do this in
an excel scatter graph?

I have a column bar chart in Excell 2007.  The labels on my bars
contain the text of each cell for that bar.  These are currently stock
symbols.  I'd like to put the symbol in parenthesis and append the
stock name.  How can that be done?

I'm using Excel 2007. I have a requirement to base a chart on the
number cells rather than the values in the cell.

Is there an easy way to create a simple Gantt chart in Excel 2003?  It would
be a 6 month timeline of project deadlines and milestones.  I have no
experience with Gantt charting, nor do I have any experience with MS Project.
 So I am completely at a loss.  Any ideas?
