I keep getting this fault in Excel 97 when opening the file. Can anyone help me understand why? EXCEL caused a general protection fault in module <unknown> at 0000:000003e4.

An additional note to the one I posted earlier this morning. I don't know that this is not normal, but when I run the task manager, Excel is listed twice when I'm having the slowness problem.

I have P4 system with 512mb of ram running Win2k and Office 2k. I am currently having problems with a 2mb Excel file locking up on me and crashing. It is a very important file and I can't afford to lose it. What can I do?

I also downloaded office updates to office 2000 yesterday, 1-8-04, and now it takes 90 seconds to open excel to a blank worksheet, and about 60 seconds to open a file. I get the message.,.. "resuesting virus scan"
