I'm using excel 2000 on windows xp home sp2. I used to be able to generate histograms without issue but now excel stops responding when I try to run one. I tried "repairing" ms office and that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Mouse automatically highlights items in excel and outlook and can not be reverted back.Only a reboot fixes this but it just keeps happening.
