Is it possible to do the following: I want to make a cell change color depending on the value of a different cell. So for example if A2 = "100" then I want cell A1 to change color.

The reply to my problem below did bring the variable over to column b, however, the fill option repeats the same variable in row 1 and does not extract the data in every 3rd row. What do you mean by copy down? nine thousand records!

I am looking for a function, that does not rely on vb code behind the scene, that will return only the unique values from a column. This function would in all ways be similar to the "Distinct" function in SQL.

Some program I use spits out a .dat file, even though it is a comma delimited file. How can I link from another workbook to information in the .dat file without opening it?

Is there a way to add together only those cells that aren't hidden? When trying to do the sum function, it seems to add in the hidden cells.

I do not have microsoft access. One of the benefits of access is that entire rows of data will sort when you want them to. Example: a birthday column will sort with the associated name column when you opt to sort names alphabetically. Can excel do this and if so how?
