I am a teacher and use a spreadsheet to keep a record of when students have
completed an assignment.
I need to produce a monthly report detailing how many students completed
each unit within the last month.

I have some functions in my spreadsheet that returns "#REF!".  That is OK,
however I'm wondering if there is a way to format the spreadsheet to not
display the "#REF!" but instead just a blank cell?

For example:  156 SQFT x $10.00.   Where 156 SQFT is all in a single cell.  
Is there a way to ignore the alpha characters and only look at the numerical

I am trying to get Conditional formatting to achieve a result to no avail.

when I put a dash (0005 - 001) excel changes the dash to a zero and it is
driving me freakin crazy. It just started doing this.
