I have three columns in a spreadsheet that can contain "A", "Y", "C",
respectively.  I'm trying to get a total of each column as to how many
time the A,Y, C, occurs in each column - there is a separate column
for each letter.  I tried setting up the formula as follows:

Say I have the following data; in D, I want to sum values
in B if corresponding values in C=Y. The value in A serves
to visually "group" the data in B,C & D; meaning, data samples
"1" (A1) uses B1-D3, data samples 2 (A4) uses B4-D5. Simple

Without using VB is there a way to create a condition based on a cell
colour, i.e if Cell A3 is grey but cell A1: A8 (excluding A4) is
green, then create a condition in B1:G8 that if any of the cells A1:A8
are grey, that the corresponding cells in that row go grey also?

Ive got a sheet, that is supposed to be fully filled in.
I would like a formula to count the number of blanks in each column.
If for example, the formula is in A100, id like it to show how many
cells have nothing in.

Is there a limit to the number of items that can appear in a data validation
