I have a file with 10000 numbers and I want them to be in "text" format. I do the basics (format-cell-text) but only when I insert ' or edit the cell (F2+ENTER)I have the right results. is there an easier way which is less time consuming?

Is there some way that just by passing over a cell in Excel it will automatically insert the current date.. I think I've done this with past versions of Excel.. but I can't seem to remember how I did it and I can't seem to find any documentation on how to automate this task
