Is there a function to use lookup in non-sorted (but unique) list?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve the problem of having too
long coding for Macro? I don't want to split the coding into 2 macro
separately.

I need to convert all to 12 hour format rounded to the nearest minute,

I need to convert the data from a cell that contains date and time to a
different cell that will give a result of day /night, which functions should
I  use and what will be their syntax?
if the hours i refere to as day are 7:00AM-18:00PM, and night 18:00Pm-07:00AM

I wish to create a range of CheckBox's (A5:A30) that if checked a
formula in AA1 will count the number of "Ticks" in a non-contiguous
range, say in A7;A9;A15 etc

I'm new to functions...  How do I write the function "If cell D3 has any
character in it, then cell D4 = 1.  If it has no characters, cell D4 = 0"
How about "If cell D3 has the word 'truck' in it, then cell D4 = 1"

treat .7 + .1 as something less than .8
