When I enter a date into a cell it always adds an = sign in front of the date. Is there an option to stop this from happening?

I want to set up a cell with conditional validation. If an answer is (x) then validation comes from d:2 if answer is (y) then validation comes from d:3. Can excel do this?

I have a project with two milestones, but I only know the date for the second milestone. To derive the date for the first milestone, I know that it must occur ~46 days prior to the date of the second milestone. However, the first milestone must always occur on a Monday.
