I have a data set where i have daily data for 10 years. I want to calculate the beta(slope or linest) for each month. The data is only from trading days, so some months have 20 observations due to hollidays etc, and some have 25.

In Excel I need to character search a cell and determine if one of 3 text strings, 01-08, 08-07, 27B can be found anywhere in the cell, if one of them are found I need UPDATED to show in the results cell, if none of then are found the results cell will be blank.

When entering a date into a cell without specifying a year, such as "2-28," Excel will put in the default value of "2/28/2008." Does anyone know how to make the default year something other than the current year? Thanks.

The newsgroup I used to be able to see and set up using Virgin Net was "microsoft.public.excel.worksheet" Now it says it is not a group! Anyone out there who can prove otherwise?
