I have a simple question about how to do sumproduct with the unhidden

Is there a way to change the properties of an inserted row, column, or cell?  
For instance;
Certain cells are highlighted a certain color.  I then perform a subtotal
(data>subtotals).  New rows are now inserted based on my subtotal criteria.

I want to sum AM113 to AM175 I've tried the numerous ways I've found in the
answers in other posts however it always shows an answer of 0 and it doesn't

I have column filled with dates that, unfortunately, are text and therefore
cannot be viewed as numbers. The problem I have to solve is to count all
dates in the column that represent a day in, say, October (or any month). My
column looks like this:
