Has anyone solved the mystery of Data Validation drop downs going AWOL? I ran a macro to clear Web stuff (shapes, hyperlinks etc.) and its impossible to get DV back on this sheet. I had to copy and paste to another sheet and re-enter the DV.

I have a spread sheet where several items are preceded by an *. I need to remove them, I tried "replace with" but everything I tried removed all data, I guess because * means any words.

Why does COUNTIF see "01" and "1" in text formatted cells as equals? I need them to be seen as different. These should be evaluated as different in text formatted cells. In numeric formatted cells the leading "0" would not be displayed.

I'm trying to figure out a way to format cells so that I only have to input minutes and seconds only, rather than having to type in the hour as well. Is there a way that Excel will do this automaticaly, or is there a way to format without the hour being included?

Error: 'The document was saved succcessfully, but Excel cannot re-open it because of a sharing violation. Please close the document and try to open it again.' Not sure what angle to take on this. She has full rights on the directory where the files are saved and it doesn't happen ...
