I have a column that contains a number and a number enclosed in parenthesis,
is it possible to use the number that is enclosed for a calculation ie
c1=b1*a1"(#)"

I have an ASP.NET (VB) routine that imports a lot of data from an Excel
spreadsheet
into a OleDbDataAdapter, and then into a database table.  The import
has been working fine until now, but my latest spreadsheet has a column

Is there a method (no macro) to prevent that when editing a cell it
cannot contains a null (blank) text?
I have tried with cell A1 inserting the following formula in Data
validation: "=(LEN(A1)>0)" but it does not work.

I am trying to get a sum value of time, trying to get it to input the
time only and calculate the total number of hours and minutes worked.

I am trying to summarize in one cell, all the different shoe sizes worn

I have been trying to enter a date; however, excel keeps entering it as
the serial number. I have been searching for quite some time on how to
enter an invoice date - with no luck.
Does excel always recognize a date as a serial number.
