I'm faced with a rather unique problem.I have a large amount of improperly formatted excel files. They all have various cells formatted as text, yet they contain numbers and perform calculations on the cells. I now need to get these in a proper state.

I have merged 10 colums in the B section and I need to put text in this box that relates to the A column but when i merge cells B3 to B 10 the text drops down to the bottom. I need to be able to fit enough text into the box how do I get teh cursor to start at the top of the box.

the spreadsheet on which i am currently working doesn't seem to fill down properly for any formulae, when i drag the handle down. instead it just copies the data from the original cell, rather than calculating new values for each cell below.
