What is an assumption and how do i set an assumption? I'm taking an excel

I have an image for the background of a worksheet. I don't want it to tile.
Is there something I can choose in Excel to keep the background from

=CONCATENATE(G3,G4,G8,G9,G10,G11,G12)
In this case, one cell (G9) contains the date formula =TODAY().
What I am getting from G9 is 39023. What I need is the actual value
