I can pull in a value from another spreadsheet with this:

If I copy the above (minus the =) and paste it in cell AB3, then why doesn't

column of text entries, but with empty cells interspersed here and there
from top to bottom sort of like this for, say, cells A1:A6:

I have an excel sheet with 6 separate ranked charts on it. I am able
to sort 5 of these charts in descending order. Excel will not allow me
to sort the 6th chart in the same way. I keep getting a "This
operation requires the merged cells to be equally sized" message.

Is there a way to have a formula that is copied across colums refer to the
source colum (which has data in each row) as "absolute" but "relative" to the
rows on the source column?

I have been handed a list that I need to convert and I am stumped.
The worksheet contains three columns of addresses. The addresses are
generally in one of three formats:

I have a spreadsheet of about 50 rows.  I need a way to copy the text
in say row 2 and make two new rows under it with the same text as in
row 2 right under it.  but i want to do it for all the rows.  any
ideas?

i am sure this topic has been addressed but i cannot find anything on
a search
the problem is that the office clipboard will not copy a value which
is the same as one already copied
