I have solved this so it is just my curiosity at play here. Using someone else's sheet, I entered a formula (=D235/80) into a cell expecting a numeric result not realizing that the cell was formatted as Text (so I got to see the formula as text). So I changed the cell format to

I know Excel is not supposed to be a Word Processing program. Nevertheless, I have a lot of text on a work sheet that is all upper case. Is there a quick fix for converting upper case to lower case without exporting it to another application, changing the case and importing it ...

I can open an existing excel file with no problem. However, if I try to open another excel file while that first is still open, the first excel file ends up "pasting" some type of link to the file I tried to open into a cell. Not a true

We change a date in one cell and all the other cells in sheet get unrecognizable. The cell we change has this formula =SUM(U14+28) and when we change the 28 to a 42 the reset of the cells go to this symbol...#NAME? Any ideas why this is happening, and are there any options we ...

So, I've been revising an Excel document. Now, I am unable to select any text boxes to delete them. I'm also unable to insert a new text box - that option is greyed out. I am using Windows Vista, and none of the worksheets are protected. What gives??

Thought this was simple, but not for me ;) I have a customer.xls sheet and an orders.xls sheet. What I need to find is the highest purchase date for each customer in customers.xls looking up into orders.xls. Lookup is based on email address which is unique.

I have completed my workbook by entering different formulas in different cells, Now, I want all cells to freeze the value they have, I dont care if these cells just forget the formula and now retain only the numeric value they have calculated, is their any way to do that.
