I'm running Excel XP, and all of a sudden my workbook uses manual calc.  I
go Tools --> options --> calculations and set it to Automatic.  Next time I
open the workbook, its back to Manual
What am I doing wrong ???

I am brand new to 2007 but have found I am unable to save a *.dbf file back
to a program I was able to do with version 2003. Is there a way around it?

How can I get excel to look up a column, copy the data over to another
worksheet, deleting all the duplicate names. So I have a nice list of
names.

Ok, I have this sheet that has 700 cells which includes name, last name of
the person and his/her address in it.
note: Name, last name and address are in the same cell.
Now I would like to transfer JUST the names and last name to another cell.

I am attempting to build a formula that averages a column of data (that gets
added to every day), but ignores, or does not include blank rows.
Any hints?

I've just built a whisker & box chart by using the x-y scatterplot
chart-type and connecting the plotted variables.
The boxes are stacked vertically so I've put my legend to the right of the
chart area.  However, the legend is in the opposite order to the boxes.

I was under the impression that if one used the "$" in a cell reference,
that would mean that whether or not columns and/or rows are inserted, the
reference would remain at the ORIGINAL spot.  So, for instance, if I put in
