records. I have headings in row 2 and data in rows 3 through 27 with costs

I see that I only get the option to group items from a number to a number
when all my data is numeric.  Problem is that because I don't know how many
rows my data will have (I want to be able to paste in new values and just
'refresh' the pivot table), I have used the source "$A:$H".

I can group some of these grades by adding a calculated item that just adds
together the number of, say, grade As and grade Bs.  This seems more elegant

I receive numerous excel spreadsheets from vendors. Each provides
distribution by state, but not all vendors distribute in each of the 50
states. I enter the spreadsheets data into one spreadsheet to obtain total

Example of what I am trying to do.  I have a list of people's names and
dates they are scheduled to volunteer.  First name is in Column A, Last Name
is in Column B, Date is in Column C.
