When I use a web services to populate a listbox, If I use a "union" in the select, the value appear in blank, otherway, if use only select the values is good.  why?

My boss just upgraded my software to Office 2003 and
wants me to learn how to use InfoPath.  I have taken the
tour and feel I can struggle through but I couldn't find
the answer to one question.  If you create a form for

Is there a way to auto populate an id field when
submitting to an SQL table? (The id field is the primary
key in the table.) So the user can't control the id, but
it gets auto populated with the number following the last
