Okay, I know this is going to sound really weird. But I am using MS Outlook 2003 right now, which is fine. I have an AOL email address. I am running an average home computer with no sophisticated business network attached, no server, etc... just using Windows XP Home Edition.

I have been noticing every now and then some users complaining of receiving garbled doc, and xml files. We are using exchange 2003 and outlook 2003. After investigating we found we could open the attachments if we use outlook web access.

Every time I open Outlook 2007, it seems to load but then suddenly disappears. The only sign that it might be there is that the Outlook icon appears in the bottom right corner of my tray. Is it possibly running in the background? If so, how do I fix this?
