I've had Office XP on my mchaine for sometime and it has been fine.  All of
a sudden, it is taking a bit more time than usual for Word to open up, even
when I am starting a new document.  Interestingly, Powerpoint and Excel have
no such problem.  Since it is happening on two ...

2 users w/Office 2000
All with Windows XP
All using Dell Optiplex GX260

Word suddenly takes forever to open on Windows XP.  Reinstalled it but have
same problem.  Everything else--Quicken, dictionaries, Turbo Tax--open
normally.  Why the Word slowdown?

All of a sudden MS Word XP is taking about 15 seconds to open and it is
requesting Internet Access in the process of opening.
Anybody have an idea what update/modification/IMPROVEMENT in Word or ,
perhaps, Norton Anti Virus caused this to suddenly happen and what I can do

In the last few days, it's taken my WORD program as much as four or
five minutes to actually start.  This started a few days after I got
an apparently corrupt WORD file from a friend.  I've run virus check,
and it's come up clean, so I don't think I have a virus.

Can someone please tell me why my Word 2003 takes over 30 seconds to launch
on a fast new Dell computer? It seems to be waiting for something on my
small peer to peer network, or maybe Internet, because it launches fast if I
disable the computer's network adaptor.

I am unable to get a business card or a signature to appear at the bottom of

I am developping a program, and I wanna control the Serial PORT of desktop computer through the Emulator of standardSDK attached Windows CE .NET4.1. I am not success.

At present the paragraph default on my Word 97 is left justified.  How do I
set the default to be fully justified (Ctrl-J) so I do not have to set it to
this everytime I start a new document?

I have a Word document that was written in Word 2000. In the header on
each page there is a page number using the {PAGE} field. The document
contains a couple of longish tables and about 8 images from screen
dumps or cameras, and is 31 pages long.

how can i turn off the scanning of the "a" drive when
there is no disk in there.  it is really annoying when i
go to open a file!

I have corner markers on blank and formatted documents that I can't get rid
of.  Light gray lines.  Any suggestions, I've looked everywhere under
