I set up a Word form with a table and fill-in fields, protected for forms

Since upgrading to Office 2003 I seem to be having no end of trouble with

I very often have Word documents where the umlauts of the Swedish letters
Å, Ä and Ö are cut off (esp. for Ä). If you zoom to, for instance, 200 %,
the umlauts show.  They print correctly.  What could the reason for this

How do I turn off the auto-formatting in Word 97 that causes it to add bits
to a date when I type it?  At the moment, I type "18 August 2004" and as
soon as I type the last digit Word adds its own formatted date and I need to
delete it before I can go on.

In attempting to learn Word97 Styles I created several test styles.  
Now I want to get rid of them. I go to FORMAT/Styles, then click on the
test style I want to delete, then click on YES  to "Do you want to
delete style TEST!? I then click on Apply and Close.  I exit Word, then

I have an eight page document and want the first five pages to be
numbered i, ii, iii, iv, v and the sixth page to be numbered 1, the
seventh page 2 and the eighth page to have no number.  I have
succeeded in numbering the first five pages, but each time I insert or
