I am typing text into a two-column format.  As I add text, Word (Office 2000) balances the columns for me.  I would like to turn this feature off so that I can fill up one column at a time, but I can't remember where this control feature is located!

Hello.  Is there a way to define a style which only modifies certain
characteristics of the text being formatted?  For example, I'd like to
define a style which changes the color of the font, but does nothing
