Somehow Outlook is broken. When I try to open it, I get the message that outlook.pst cannot be found. I think that is the file for the contacts. Then when I click on the contacts Icon, I get a message that says "unable to display folder. folder no longer exists." So I tried ...

In the menu bar of Outlook, you have an icon which looks like an open book; I click on it to display my contacts. Although I have changed the "Display As" option for each contact to reflect last name then first name, it will not

I moved from a desktop (win2000 pro) running Outlook 2000 to a laptop (XP Pro) running Outlook XP. I copied my outlook.pst file and outlook opened it fine. I added my mail accounts with no problem and imported my rules, ditto, no problem.

I am not happy that in Office XP you cannot sort the contact/address list when you add and address to a new message. Unless I am missing something this feature (clicking on the field button at the top) like excel has been dropped. It is a pain to have to scroll down the list ...
