I was able to import my 700+ contacts into Outlook. For some reason, everything was imported except for email addresses. What did I do wrong?

Old system died. Harddrive ok. Office 98 in old and I need to transfer the contacts and if possible the calendar. Old HD set up on external drive and I can load other item with no prob. How do I transfer contacts and calendar?

Each time I enter a contact, and try to find or search for the same contact it won't display. However, if I go to the last name manually it will display. Could anyone provide any rhyme or reason? I've upgraded and updated the software to the latest and greatest.
