I have deleted all the activities in a contact thinking it will clean up the tab… To my surprise all the contacts that where their where erased from the contact folder. Help! Anyway to recover them?

When attempting to save contact details from an email into the "contacts" address book, outlook becomes partially inactive and I can no longer save any data or open new emails. I often need to restart the computer to regain all outlook functions. What do I need to do to fix this?
