I imported my address book to contacts, but when I open a new e-mail message
it does not look for addresses in my Contacts. If I click on TO: it only
opens up the Global Address List from our Exchange server.

I noticed that my sync of contacts to Motorola Q does not always sync contact
changes.  When I change on the Motorola device it wipes out the Outllok
contact.  I do have Outlook overriding my mobile device.  It seems to work
fine with my work pc using Outlook 2003.
