I had a free third party addin that allowed you to choose
which type of attachments you want to open.  It makes
Outlook work like Outlook express, adds a tab to your
options.

My daughter downloaded AOL IM recently and I noticed that
when I open my Outlook Express to check Email, the AOL IM
also begins to open. I have looked around the properties
menu in the AOL utilities to uncheck any "start up" link
