I have run the "Pack N Go" wizard, but it does not display any drives that I
can use to record to.  It only shows drives G: ...

Whenever I save a Powerpoint slide as a JPG, it comes out, well, just
plain ugly; that is shadows around everything, solid colors aren't
solid, etc. Is there anyway to eliminate these effects?

Using ppt2003 to display a (large) presentation created initially via
ppt2000, I use the keyboard shortcut 'b' to black the screen.  This
