Using PPT 2000, I would like to create a presentation where every slide
has the same format:
Title and picture.
(OK, the 1st slide will have a title only)

The below suggestion helped, but the text still has a shadow.  Is there a
way to get rid of it as a default in the shape?
Do I have to create every shape and save as default?

OK.  This is my first time creating charts and graphs in PPT2003 on XP.
I've used PPT2000 for years without problems.
