When I try to open a powerpoint show, it places an icon in my task bar but
does not open. I then have to go to task manager to close the icon without
ever seeing the show. Any suggestions ?

I'm pasting some linked charts into my powerpoint.  As soon as I add a
second chart to a page, PPT is auto-sizing them.  I want this behaviour to
stop.  I'm constantly resizing the charts after this auto-action.

When I try to open an Power Point file, I get the following message:
"PowerPoint can't open the type of file represented by ........ppt"
